Epiphany

I had an epiphany today.

I went out to buy a case for my netbook. I really wanted a nice, slim, neoprene sleeve with handles or something. I swear I had seen one at Target one time... Anyway, after the auditions at work this morning, I went over to WalMart. They had a few cute ones, but there was something off about all of them, so I decided to head to the mall.

I went to Target, Sears, Best Buy, Newbury Comics, Spencer's, and Hot Topic. I finally decided I would have to get a plain one, and buy a slightly larger purse to put it in. I went back to Target and went to get one of the boring ones, and ended up in a different aisle. They actually had the cute netbook sleeves in the aisle with portable DVD players (obviously?). Anyway... I got a nice, black sleeve with a white floral pattern.

On the way out, I walked by the children's clothing section... and had my epiphany.

I saw a cute tank top, and thought... that is much cuter than the sleeve that I got. Plus, the sleeve has no handles, or way to carry it. My purse is too small to hold it...

I've always loved working with fabric. I was a weaving major in college, and spent a few years in school learning how to make clothes, sew, etc. I decided... I'll just make my own carrying case out of a shirt. I poked around, and found this awesome Hello Kitty shirt that actually matches the sleeve that I got!

I went to go get a simple sewing kit, and found they have a portable sewing machine. I got that, along with a few other accessories I need for it. Now, I'm on the hunt for more clothes. For my bag, I used a store-bought shirt, but from now on I am going to utilize used clothing. It's a green, economical project that might hopefully get me a small amount of income. It'll give me something fun to do, too! I need a hobby...

Suddenly, everything has changed...

It's been forever, but life has been a whirlwind as of late.

We moved out of the apartment in Plymouth, and are (temporarily...) living at Mikey's dad's house. We revamped the downstairs bedroom, and it's actually not so bad. We have the bed, the canopy, the TV... it's pretty cozy. Hopefully we won't be here for too long.

There is so much to say, and that's not what this is about. This is about... the netbook. THE netbook. My netbook.

I've wanted one for a few months now. My old laptop has completely shit itself, and I've been wanting another one. We have our wonderful desktop computers for DDO (yes, there is a new MMO in my life, too) and for the other big things, but I wanted a little laptop. I really just wanted a step up from the iPhone. I love my iPhone, but sometimes you just want to hop on the computer and do something quick... and the iPhone is not one for quick, when browsing the real internet.

This weekend is tax free weekend. I mentioned this to Mikey, saying that I wished we had the money this weekend... long story short, I have my dream netbook. It's purple, first and foremost. It has a built in webcam. I don't know why I wanted this part... but I really wanted a webcam. Also, it's Acer, which is a name I trust. Did I mention that it's purple? Mikey is seriously magical. I could ask for a unicorn, and he'd make one, somehow. I'm really lucky.

So tonight, as Mikey is working at his brother in law's pizza shop (thank goddess for that!) I get to play on my new computer. My new, purple, computer.
